Feel the Love

Here is the conversation that Izzy and I had this morning.

Katie: Izzy are we best friends?

Izzy: No.

Katie: What do you mean? I thought you loved me!

Izzy: I like Spot more. He’s my best friend.

(Just in case you aren’t following, Spot is my dad’s horse.)

Katie: What??!?!! Well maybe Spot can rearrange his whole schedule so he can trot on over to Diane’s to pick you up early for dance class, you know if he’s your best friend.

Izzy: That’s a great idea! I don’t want you to pick me up today. Send Spot for me instead.

Somedays, I feel like I'm in a no win situation.

Easter 2009

I got another one of those little surprises when I left work on Friday. Izzy and Chase were walking to the back door to meet me. Chase wasn’t supposed to be home until Sunday evening, so I was kind of dreading another weekend of entertaining myself. So you can imagine how excited I was. The weekend was essentially uneventful but it was nice to spend some time with my hubby. Chase took Izzy to the park to Easter Egg Hunt. I refused to go because I couldn’t stomach the thought of dealing with all of those kids. We had Radu and Paula over for dinner which was so much fun. I even cooked dinner, which I was proud of. As soon as he found out I was cooking, Chase began saying that we should just take them out. I told him I could do it but he was a nonbeliever. He even pulled out the Pizza Hut coupons 30 minutes before they arrived as a backup. But I did it! I thought it turned out good and everyone ate it, so I took it as a good sign. Paula asked Chase why he was so quiet during dinner and then followed it up with this statement, “Is it the food poisoning setting in?” I hope she was just joking. On Easter, Izzy actually tried to sleep in but Chase couldn’t take it anymore and woke her up. She was excited to see what the Easter Bunny brought her for “Christmas”. Anytime she gets any kind of gift these days, she assumes its Christmas.
Izzy did dress herself, I promise.

Once Izzy saw that Grandpa was going for a ride on Easter, she has to be involved. She could of cared less about her attire, she just wanted to ride.

Guys, I'm in here!

Isabelle has been acting like such a drama queen lately. You can reprimand her in the littlest way and she runs away crying hysterically. At my parents house, she runs and throws herself on to their bed and acts like she just found out that the world is ending. My dad told her to get her hand out of her nose and she was off, crying that "Jrandpa hurt me." Usually one of the softy's (Chuck 0r Connie) follows her begging for forgiveness. Last night, no one followed her because we wanted to see what she would do. We heard the usual cries and finally after a few minutes, there was nothing. Then we heard a little voice say "Guys, I'm in here. Guys, I'm in here. GUYS! I'M IN HERE!" The kid was waiting for someone to track her down and apologize. The second that she saw me round the corner, she started crying. She had her head in the pillow and you could tell that she has been peaking out waiting for a reason to start the drama show all over again. Kids! After that issue got resolved, my dad told her that she couldn't ride Spot (the horse) until she didn't act like a baby. All she heard was "Let's go ride Spot." Before you know it, she had her coat and boots on. She was very confused that Jrandpa was still sitting there. So she brought him his boots. Mind you, it was dark and freezing outside. When she couldn't get those shoes on, she went and found another pair to try. We all kept telling her that it wasn't going to be tonight but as per usual, she heard what she wanted to hear. She kept telling Chuck, "I'm ready to ride Spot now." The kid loves horses. I don't think you should turn kids off from what they love, but I'm hoping she picks something a litte safer. My brother-in-law, Cody, told her that if she turns into a cowgirl that he wouldn't be able to love her anymore. She looked at him and said, "No, I'm a cowboy like Jrandpa." What more can I say?

Izzy Rides A Horse

Cyndy tried to ride a horse with help from Chuck. I wonder how it feels to have your brother's hands all over your rear end. I hope I never know.
Izzy and Braxton on Spot.

Spot is getting tired of hauling all 33 lbs of Izzy around.

Marley was a little hesitant at first, which I think is a good sign. Izzy, on the other hand, usually refuses to get off and sometimes feels so confidant that she stops holding on.

My daughter loves horses. While most normal children wouldn't think of riding by themselves, Izzy almost refuses to share the saddle with anyone else. When she and Braxton were sharing, she threw a hissy fit and kept saying,"Izzy can ride alone." At her age, I was petrified of these huge, wild animals. I mean who really has control over a 1300 lbs animal? But she has no fear. To be honest, I'm still scared and it is painful for me to watch her. My dad took her on a ride to the end of my grandparents road and the entire time I felt like she was leaning way too far to the left. But she made it back in one piece. Not only did she not inherit my fear, but she also lucked out and avoided her dad's allergies. Chase can't even get near a horse without sneezing. I just hope she always knows that it is ok to play it safe and get off and walk your horse down hills. My father never used to let me do that and to this day, I have a hard time with going downhill on any mode of transportation (that is not enclosed anyway).
