Beauty School Drop Ins

Who wants to see something cute?

I know you all eagerly responded so here goes. Who would have guessed that these cute babies would turn into these beauties?

My brother-in-law thought it would be fun to do a beauty day for the cousins. I know what you are thinking. How under the table metrosexual of him. I know! But it was so much fun and all of the girls had a blast. Jade, Isabelle, Mia and Cambri all got their hair did and looked like mini super models. My mother-in-law paid for it so it was EVEN MORE FUN for me!

Yes, Cambri refused to cooperate for the photos. She was so good sitting in the chair and not moving that she used up all of her natural Ritalin-like substance. I have since forgiven her. Later that same day, she drank almost an entire diet Coke without being caught. Now that was a real nightmare. I have not forgiven her for that.

Izzy had such a good time that all I heard all day were things like "Don't I look cute?" "No one will even recognize me I am so beautiful." "Wow, I look so different. I love it."

Not conceited at all, right peeps?

It was insufferable for me to have to listen to. She actually tried to get into the shower with a plastic grocery sack over her head in order to protect the straightness. It was rather ingenious but sadly the lack of oxygen started to affect her. She used it as another opportunity to point out why Nikki would be a better fit as her mother. Izzy told me, "Nikki has beautiful straight blond hair and I want that, not what we have." I tried to use the "some people pay lots of money for curly hair" because that's what my mom used to use on me. Izzy stared at me like I was slow in the head. Lesson learned.

Izzy says she HATES her curly hair now. Sad for her. She is stuck with it because I am stuck with it.

Aren't we lucky to have these girls in our family? If you don't think they are adorable, I give you permission to close your browser and drop your computer on your big toe.

Brain is Fried

I seriously have so many things going through my head right now that I can barely stay focused for more than 5 seconds. So I'm going to steal an idea from a pro and write a list of things that I could blog about.

1. My living situation. I have been told there is a light at the end of the tunnel and I will feel welcome in my house soon. This would be a good idea but it really is too emotionally draining. Besides depending on how I examine the situation, I’m mad or hurt by someone and who really wants to be mad/hurt all the time?

2. Izzy hasn't had an accident in FOUR months. Nah, this is old news.

3. Chase is coming home on Sunday. But then it occurred to me that if I start blogging about every time he leaves and comes home, it would be all that I would ever write about. So for now, I'm just going to leave my excitement in my head. But I am REALLY excited.

4. The wedding that I missed out on last weekend due to the weather. But reliving sliding down the freeway backwards might be more than I can take right now. I wish I could let Megan know how truly disappointed I am that I missed her special day.

I want to talk about something that makes me happy.

No words are really needed.

A Burke Family Christmas

After a quick adventure to Salt Lake City, I’m glad to say that we all made in back in one piece. The Burke Family Christmas Party was this weekend, so Ryan, Cody, Jade, Isabelle, Mia & I piled in the Yukon Saturday night after I got off work. I was just grateful that I didn’t have to drive. Jade was definitely the best behaved kid throughout the trip. Mia got to come with us which was very exciting. I bet Chase $100 she wouldn’t come because I didn’t think Nicole would want to be away from her quite yet. I wasn’t the only one who thought that way because I heard a few people at the Christmas party tell other people that Nicole & Mia didn’t come. Jana was obviously very excited Mia came and held her all day long, which is probably why other family members hadn’t seen her at that point. I know that it was extremely difficult to let her baby go but I think that Mia punished Ryan enough during the night. From what I hear, she was up all night long! I got punished on Sunday though becuase Isabelle refused to nap which is not best case scenario. In fact, is probably very close to worse case. I was extremely tired by end of the party because it was just a very long weekend. On the car ride on the way home, Isabelle started freaking out and cried for 20 minutes. When we finally got to a place where we could stop, she was sweating to death but she calmed down. After that things went smoothly. The girls watched a movie, I tested Ryan to establish that he wasn’t a serial killer (though he did have a cat story that was extremely creepy) and we made it home by 10. Not a bad trip and best of all, I didn't have to drive!

My Turn, Open Your Eyes & Smile!

These crazy kids! Nicole and I were trying to get some cute shots of Mia & Jade for Mia's birth announcement and there were moments of complete craziness. First and foremost, Isabelle did not like being left out of this. She kept trying to slowly slide in her foot then desperately leap into the picture. I think this kid needs a sibling. Grandma had to distract Izzy by taking pictures of her on her camera. But that only worked for a little while. It wasn't too long before she was back to her old tricks and saying, "My turn, my turn!" After we got that worked out, we asked Jade to close her eyes for one picture and from that point on, we had trouble getting her to keep her eyes open. There is a series of ten frames where her eyes are closed! Mia was definitely the best behaved. She was sweet and alert and let Jade and Izzy smother her with attention. After we were done, we threw Izzy a bone and let her get in some of the pictures and, of course, at that point, she started being unwilling to cooperate. Ryan just had surgery and was laid up back in his bedroom and my child was running around like a crazed woman. She kept slamming doors and saying, “I need to see Ryan.” I’m worried that we won’t be allowed back into their house after the commotion last night. Hopefully, Ryan & Nicole wil forgive us!

Mia Love

Chase and I received a new neice today! She was born shortly before 2 pm, weighing 8lbs, 5 oz and is 21 1/2 inches long with a full head of hair. I remember that Jade was 7 lbs, 11 oz, and completely bald so her little sister is already exhibiting some differences. I'm going to head over there right after work to meet little Mia because I am so excited!
